Biography
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Virgil was the son of Clyde and Rosemarie Brooksbank. He served bravely in the U.S. Army, completing two tours during the Vietnam War, and later retired from Queen City Metro after more than 30 years of service.
Virgil was not just a political activist but also a family man. He was a loving husband to Wanda Lee Brooksbank, who preceded him in death, and a beloved father to sons Russell and Ronald Brooksbank. He extended his paternal care to Heather, Amber, Brandon, and Christina, embodying the role of a father figure. As a grandfather to Autumn, Aaron, and Aiden, and a great-grandfather to Eiris and Cassandra, his legacy of love and care continued. Virgil was also a dear brother and uncle, remembered fondly by his many siblings and nieces and nephews, both blood-related and adopted.
Political and Community Involvement
Virgil's commitment to advocating for the "little guy" and standing up for what is right was evident in his political and community activities. He was an active and dependable member of the Libertarian Party in Clark County, Indiana, where he was appreciated for his patient, kind, and steadfast nature.
His son Russell said, "He taught me to fight for the little guy, to be patient, to be kind, and to stand for what is right. I miss him daily. Love you Dad. I promise to keep up the good fight."
