One of the most important figures behind the 1972 election of conservative Steve Symms to the U.S. Congress is becoming disenchanted with Symms' compromises on his previously articulated libertarian principles. Ralph Smeed, writing in a syndicated column in Idaho, claimed Symms has been influenced by 'big corporation lobbyists.'
