The most basic application of the Practical Leadership Theory is in everyday life. A co-worker, child, teenager or loved one may require leadership in the smallest of ways, Moral Leadership.
The theory was created by Fuentes-Padilla during an argument with a staff member from Camp Keowa, a Boy Scout summer camp in Narrowsburg, NY, in May 2015. The argument was described by Padilla as "One of leadership failures on the part of camp administration and how it could have been better". Padilla described the result as one of the "worst arguments" he'd ever had about scouting.

For example: A child comes up to a teacher and asks for assistance with the reading of a passage he can't understand. The teacher reads it to him, reads it with him and then has him read it in front of her. She used a practical teaching method. She showed him the practice of reading it aloud for better understanding, the practice of reading to someone else to ensure quality of the content and in the long run allowed him the chance to try alone to evaluate the process.
===== Principle of Leaders =====
The "Principle of Leaders" is the primary term used to describe the first piece of the theory. The majority of this portion of the theory is dedicated to organizational leadership.

The Idea can be transferred over to low-level or in-party politics as well. The New York City Council, New York State Assembly and New York State Senate Representatives can be in the district, serving food to the homeless, fixing homes and hearing the people, whilst still representing their interests in the office. The idea is that there is no excuse for not being in the point of view of the public.
According to the theory:

'''''"Leadership in any organization is something to adjust to, something that even experienced employees have to take some time to look over. Not because they aren't ready, but, because the followers aren't ready. Leaders must care more for their people than themselves, if they don't, they are in the wrong job. Leadership is about where your subordinates do better than you. If they aren't learning to be better than YOU, your not doing your job correctly."'''''
