==Kept Off of the Ballot Candidates==
One of the hardest candidate types to find out about is when the candidate is the ''de jure'' or at least ''de facto'' nominee but was kept off of the ballot when ballot access efforts were unsuccessful.  Or worst of all, the candidate was trying to run as an independent and/or write-in and the petition effort was unsuccessful, which -- short of a mention in a searchable archived newspaper or someone being able to remember -- may already be lost to recorded history.  An example of a candidate in this category (not US Senate) would be [[Rob Harrison]].
What might be a better short name for this category of candidate than Kept Off Ballot?
