2024 Revival

What with the extra excitement of Trump’s speaking at the convention, and the delegates voting for our Presidential candidate (which took till 1:15 a.m. Monday morning!!), plus a number of the women having administrative duties which kept them from rehearsals, plus no special room in which to rehearse, the choir never got to perform in front of the convention. However, our impromptu rehearsals around the piano in the bar did attract attention. Plus when the convention adjourned at 1:15 a.m. Monday morning, I summoned any singers in the room to come to the microphone, and we sang our 2 songs as the delegates exited. Late Monday morning, I rounded up Jack Logansmith (tenor), Pietro Geraci (lead), Mark Weinblatt (baritone) and Chris Kula (bass) and got a video on my phone of them singing “My Wild Argentinian Libertarian” — libertarian words to the iconic barbershop quartet arrangement of “My Wild Irish Rose.”[1] The other piece we learned was “Liberty, Sweet Liberty”—libertarian lyrics to “Gaudeamus Igitur.- Marcia Powell
