The Libertarian Party of Puerto Rico (LPPR) was the Puerto Rico affiliate of the Libertarian Party of the United States. The original party was founded in May, 1997 in Santurce, Puerto Rico. It held its first meeting at a Denny's restaurant. Its formation was largely spearheaded by local talk-radio host Frank Worley and pro-statehood activist Jose Julio Diaz, who were able to bring together a small group of Puerto Rican libertarians. The party was sporadically active between 1997 and 1999, until fading away around the turn of the century.
The Libertarian Party of Puerto Rico never obtained ballot access on the island and ran no known candidates under its name. A more recent version of the party is now a web-based micro-movement that aims to raise awareness of libertarianism and its potential role in the island.

Newsletter and website
There was a print newsletter in the late 1990s, which was mailed to members. It had at least two issues: May 1997 and April/May 1999. A bilingual LPPR website was designed and operated by member William Alvarez between 1997 and 1998. However, no archives of it are known to exist.
