Am reading the book at the prseent time, and found the tactics of especially the oil and coal companies particulary appalling. However, there is still one other aspect of extreme corporate power which I feel needs to be addressed. And that is the power that they have over us in our workplaces. In March 2009 I fell victim to betrayal in my workplace at the time and when I tried to fight the tactics I learned first hand the tremendous power at stake here. Corporate employers have the law on their side and they know it well.  49 out of 50 states(Montana being the lone exception) are considered at-will, which means that if you don't have a union or other contract and you lose  your job, you are totally SOL. I had many lawyers tell me that, and if you don't have big bucks to hire a top-flight lawyer or at least a private investigator, there is no way you can fight back with even an ounce of success. Isn't it time for us to become enlightened enough so that we no longer have to check all our rights at the door once we go to work?
