Bob Smither (born August 26, 1944) is the Libertarian Party 2006 Nominee for Texas's 22nd congressional district. Template:Bio-stub Born a proud fifth generation Texan, living in the Houston area since returning home in 1960.

Married, with two children - Laura (deceased) and David. Lives with his wife, Gay, and son, David, in Friendswood.

Received a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston.

Incorporated Circuit Concepts, Inc., in 1978 and has worked as an Independent consultant since then.

Taught as an Adjunct Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Houston for 14 years.

Served on the Board of Directors of the Armand Bayou Nature Center.

In 1997 co-founded the Laura Recovery Center for missing children in Friendswood with his wife Gay.

Currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Houston Regional Amber Plan - a community notification system that has saved the lives of abducted children.

Attends Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Friendswood.

In 1972 discovered the Libertarian Party and realized that he shared their principles of personal responsibility and individual freedom, and has been active in the Party since that time.
