Timothy Perkins
Timothy Perkins is the chair of the Libertarian Party of Oregon, beginning his term at the June 8th, 2019 Libertarian Party of Oregon convention in Wilsonville, Oregon.
Involvement with the Libertarian Party
Joining the LP
In 2016 Timothy switched his Oregon voter party registration from Unaffiliated to Libertarian, having never previously been registered as a member of a political party. Timothy attended the 2016 Libertarian Party Convention in Orlando, Florida (sitting with the California delegation, as Oregon sent no delegation) and shortly thereafter began regularly attending Libertarian Party of Oregon state party board meetings.
Stepping up
In time Timothy volunteered and rebuilt the state party website and ran for the 2017-2019 LPO Board of Directors, to which he was elected and began serving at the 2017 Libertarian Party of Oregon convention in Portland, Oregon.
Leadership roles
At the 2017 Libertarian Party of Oregon convention, Timothy was selected by his fellow board members to serve as Vice Chair of the LPO Board of Directors. In the 2017-2019 term, he served as chair of several subcommittees of the state party board and was the lead writer/developer of the LPO's Policy on Affiliated Organizations, paving the way for county parties to be formed in Oregon.
In 2018, Timothy attended his second National Libertarian Party convention in New Orleans, Louisiana. This Oregon delegation was comprised of members from both sides in Oregon's ongoing factional dispute, which was referred to by Timothy on the convention stage as "the New Orleans Miracle."
In 2019, Timothy ran for the LPO Board of Directors a second time, to which he was elected. At the 2019 Libertarian Party of Oregon convention, his fellow board members selected him to serve as Chair of the LPO Board of Directors.
