Melvin Stephen Hirshowitz (born December 11, 1938) is an American attorney and a founding member of the Libertarian Party of New York.
Early Life and Career
He was born on December 11, 1938 in New York City, a son of Samuel Albert and Lillian Rose (Minkow) Hirshowitz. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Cornell University in 1960, his Bachelor of Laws cum laude at Harvard University in 1963, and his Master of Arts in Bilogy at CUNY in 1977.
He was an associate attorney for Securities and Exchange Commission in New York City from 1963 to 1965. He went into private practice as Melvin Hirshowitz Law Office in New York City, from 1968 to 1976. He worked for Hyman Bravin Law Offices in New York City from 1976 to 1987. Since 1987, he returned to private practice.
Libertarian Party
On April 22, 1972, he was on a committee to assist the first Temporary Chair, Edward Clark.
