Justice grew up in a staunch Democratic family, and in his early years, Justice followed suit. In the fall of 2004, Justice and his family moved to Lefors, Texas. Because there was no organized county party, Justice set out to start one and was appointed chair of the party in July of 2005, a position he held until November before giving it to his wife, Amy, so that he could run for office. Justice ran on the platform of "Family, Freedom, Future", and became the first person to contest the office of District 88 State Representative in a general election in 18 years.
