Jake Leonard is a business owner from Nokomis, Illinois. Leonard began running for political office in 2015 as a non-partisan write-in candidate for city commissioner in the city of Nokomis, Illinois. Leonard would run as a write-in candidate for state representative in District 95 for the Illinois House of Representatives in 2016 and for Montgomery County Clerk in 2018.
Leonard made the ballot in 2017 for a bid to become part of the Nokomis CUSD #22 board of education. He also made the ballot in 2019 in a second bid for Nokomis city commissioner.

- 2016 - Worked as unofficial Mid-Illinois campaign coordinator for presidential candidate Gary Johnson, U.S. Senate candidate Kenton McMillen and comptroller candidate Claire Ball
- September 1, 2017 - Became Deputy Candidate Recruitment Director, serving under Candidate Recruitment Director Jasen Howard. Served in that role until March 19, 2019.
- March 2018 - Elected state central committeeman for Illinois' 13th Congressional District. Seeing re-election in 2020.
- May-November 2018 - Worked as official Mid-Illinois campaign coordinator for gubernatorial candidate Kash Jackson, running mate Sanj Mohip, attorney general candidate Bubba Harsy, secretary of state candidate Steve Dutner, comptroller candidate Claire Ball and treasurer candidate Mike Leheney
- March 19, 2019? Appointed Candidate Recruitment Director following the resignation of Jasen Howard.
