Arvin Vohra is a business man and author from Bethesda, Maryland. He a former Vice-Chair of the Libertarian National Committee and previously sought the Libertarian Party of Maryland's nomination for Senate in the 2018 United States Senate- Maryland election. He was the Libertarian candidate in the 2016 United States Senate- Maryland election, as well as the Libertarian Party of Maryland candidate for the US House of Representatives in 2014 and 2012.

Votes To Suspend Vohra From the LNC

First Vote

In January 2018, Vohra stirred up controversy with multiple Facebook posts opposing age of consent laws.[2] The Libertarian National Committee called an electronic meeting on February 2, 2018 to vote on a motion to suspend Vohra from his position as LNC Vice Chair. The vote was 8-8, failing to reach the required threshold of 2/3 of the LNC. Voting "Yes": Sam Goldstein, Tim Hagan, Caryn Ann Harlos, Alicia Mattson, Patrick McKnight, William Redpath, Aaron Starr, and Elizabeth Van Horn. Voting "No": Whitney Bilyeu, David Pratt Demarest, Daniel Hayes, Joshua Katz, Jim Lark, Steven Nekhaila, Starchild, and Arvin Vohra. LNC Chair Nicholas Sarwark abstained.[3]

In response to the failure to suspend Vohra, Region 8 Alternate Larry Sharpe resigned from his position on the LNC. [4]

Second Vote

Vohra continued his controversial public statements with a post entitled "Bad Idea: School Shootings. Good Idea: School Board Shootings." [5]

An email ballot was started on April 3, 2018 to suspend Vohra from his Vice Chair position.[6] The vote was 11-6, failing to meet the 2/3 threshold by one vote. Voting "Yes": Whitney Bilyeu, Sam Goldstein, Tim Hagan, Caryn Ann Harlos, Daniel Hayes, Jeff Hewitt, Joshua Katz, Alicia Mattson, Justin O'Donnell, William Redpath, and Elizabeth Van Horn. Voting "No": David Pratt Demarest, Jim Lark, Ed Marsh, Nicholas Sarwark, Starchild, and Arvin Vohra.[7]

2020 Campaign for President of the United States

In July 2018, Vohra announced his candidacy for President of the United States, seeking the Libertarian Party's nomination. [8]

On May 23 2020, the Libertarian Party nominated Jo Jorgensen for President.
