The Libertarian Party of Orange County, California. (LPOC,CA)

This organization is the duly authorized Orange County affiliate of the Libertarian Party of California Central Committee under the Bylaws of the Libertarian Party of California and pursuant to the California Election Code.

We are currently the third strongest county party in California, after Los Angeles and San Diego. Our territory is Orange County.

Orange County is the home of Norm "Firecracker" Westwell, winner of a position on the Ocean View School District.



Tasks and Procedures

Suggested Transition Tasks after ExCom Election

  1. Notify the LPC secretary of the results within 15 days.
  2. Notify other organizations that we correspond with.
  3. The phone number for the LPOC is supplied by Vonage. Update the phone message, decide who answers the messages, and change the password, and find out who has the router.
  4. Change the website passwords including the main webmaster host, and give to the webmaster, Chair and Secretary. Website currently at POWWEB.COM. Verify that these passwords work by logging in.
  5. Change the administration password for Drupal, and give to the webmaster, Chair and Secretary.
  6. Verify that one can log into the host for the domain LPOC.ORG, which is godaddy.com
  7. Change the names on the PO Box and recover all keys or change the locks. Decide who picks up the mail because often the secretary lives far from the PO box. The PO box is at the Santa Ana post office on Sunflower Street.
  8. Change the email addresses chair@lpoc.org, etc. to reflect the new officers.
  9. Change the contact info on the webpage.
  10. Review all the other email addresses, such as data@lpoc.org.
  11. Change the Paypal password, and give to the Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. Test it by going to the website and donating a dollar.
  12. Recover the checkbook and update the signatures. Usually the Chair and Treasurer are signers.
  13. Poll the Excom, and decide on a time and place for the monthly meeting.
  14. Review the committees, and retain or replace the chairs as appropriate.
  15. Review schedules events such as speeches, fairs, etc., to ensure that they are properly covered or canceled.
  16. Review standing resolutions.
  17. Generate new letterhead.

Ongoing Tasks

  1. Print postcard announcements and/or newsletter with business location and mail about one week before the meeting.
  2. Post agenda to website.
  3. Hold meeting.
  4. Post minutes within a few days.

Tasks near the end of the ExCom term

  1. Form a nomination committee to find candidates for all ExCom positions, and publicize the candidates.
  2. Announce officer elections 30 to 60 days in advance according to LPC bylaws. According to LPOC bylaws, the election must be in the month after the LPC convention.
  3. Hold officer elections.
