She was born on June 11, 1952 to George Havelaar and Barbara Scott. [1] She was a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers.
Joy served as Secretary of the Gold Country Libertarians in 2008. On June 3rd, 2015, Waymire announced her campaign for President of the United States, seeking the Libertarian Party nomination.[2] On April 13th of 2016, Waymire withdrew from the race and endorsed John McAfee. She had publicly expressed interest in running for President in 2020.[3]. Joy was well-known for her gentle and kind manner and affectionately called "Miss Joy."
On February 23, 2018, Waymire passed away at her ranch in California.[4]
