It is often overlooked that self-government in America was practiced by Native Americans long before the formation of the United States. And yet, Native Americans faced centuries of struggle before acquiring full U.S. citizenship and legal protection of their voting rights. To this day Native Americans are still severely underrepresented in the U.S. government, fall victim to voter suppression, and continue to have their Tribal sovereignty undermined by the federal government. The Libertarian Party First Nations Caucus, founded by Alex Flores, is dedicated to righting those wrongs and attaining liberty and rightful representation for the 574 Indigenous sovereign nations within the borders of the United States.
