Marshall Burt (Born May 6, 1976) is an American Politician and Railroad Inspector currently serving as a representative in the Wyoming State House for the 39th District.
Biography
Marshall Burt was born in Rochester, Minnesota on May 6, 1976. Around 1998, at the age of 22, Burt enlisted to serve in the United States Army in Okinawa, Japan, where he served for 8 Years. After his service concluded, he moved to Wyoming, where he was offered a job in an oil field. subsequently, he joined the team of Union Pacific Railroads as a Track Inspector.
During his time in Wyoming, Burt "helped build the home for the American Legion in Green River, became a charter member of the Sweetwater County Marine Corps League, volunteer locally, and currently serves as a part-time firefighter." [1]
Political Career
In the 2020 General Election, Burt ran for Wyoming State House district 39 in the hopes of unseating incumbent Democrat Stan Blake. he participated in the Libertarian Frontier Project, where candidates in multiple states recieved donations from the libertarian base.
Burt successfully won the election, and assumed office on January 12, 2021, he was assigned to the Railroads and Transportation Committee. he is the first Libertarian to be elected State Representative since 2002, and the first Third Party State Representative in Wyoming in over 100 years.
