The first issue of the newsletter that became LP News was published in November 1971 by the Committee to Organized a Libertarian Party. This newsletter mentions many topics that were of importance in the formation of the party, and some that continue to be discussed even today. At the time this newsletter was published, the first convention had not yet taken place, and it wasn't even clear that "Libertarian" would be used in the name of the party.
