1975 (1975th) was a common year starting on Wednesday of the Gregorian calendar, the 1975th year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 975th year of the 2nd millennium, the 75th year of the 20th century, and the 6th year of the 1970s decade.

National Convention

The Libertarian National Convention is held in New York City.

Roger MacBride was nominated for the US Presidency. He was the adopted grandson of libertarian author Rose Wilder Lane and the former Republican elector who gave his vote to Hospers and Nathan instead of Nixon and Agnew.

None of the declared candidates for Vice President, including John Vernon and Jim Trotter were able to win a majority of votes. David Bergland was contacted and flew in to the convention to be nominated as Roger MacBride's running mate.
