Terry Richard Hurst is the 2017 Libertarian Party of Virginia nominee for Virginia State Delegate, 89th District. He joined the national party and state party in October 2016 after volunteering for the Gary Johnson campaign before the presidential election and the regional affiliate Tidewater Libertarian Party (TLP) in November after the election.

Terry was born and raised in northern Wisconsin, coming to Norfolk in 1988 as a Navy Journalist after a 16-month deployment. A Gulf-War era veteran, Terry lives with his wife Evelyn and their children in the Belvedere neighborhood of Norfolk, where they will soon be celebrating the 20th anniversary of Evelyn’s Norfolk-based private process service business.

Their six children attended Norfolk Public Schools, the four oldest going on to attend Virginia colleges and universities and the two youngest now nearing graduation at Granby High School. The children were always very busy, but Terry knew the value of direct involvement. He coached and managed their baseball teams at Azalea Little League and was also PTA Treasurer at Sherwood Forest Elementary school.

Terry is a Director of Data Management and Analytics, has continued with his penchant for direct involvement, where he and Evelyn work together with the military’s employee assistance program (EAP), and find great satisfaction in their work supporting the military and their families. Terry feels it is important to take care of those that protect the liberty of Americans every day.

He is a graduate of Tidewater Community College with an Associate of Social Science degree (magna cum laude), and Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Psychology degree (Criminal Justice minor). Terry also graduated from Alpha College of Investigative Services (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Defense Information School (DINFOS) on the now closed Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis.
