Karl Wetzel (1952? - 2000) was a mainframe programmer and Libertarian activist.

He served on the Libertarian National Committee, as state chair for Nebraska and Iowa, and as state party treasurer for Missouri.

He twice ran for (US?) Congress in Missouri's 6th District.

He died of a heart attack at the age of 48 on 17 February 2000, shortly after leaving a Kansas City Metro Libertarian Party meeting, leaving no heirs. His insurance policy was divided between the Missouri and National Libertarian Parties while the state of Missouri claimed his 401(k).

The Missouri Libertarian Party established the Karl Wetzel Volunteer Award in his memory.
