Chairman
T. Lee Horne III is the current Economic Development Officer of the Libertarian Party of Louisiana. He was elected to his current post at the recent State Convention held in Lafayette in April 2012. Previously, he served as chairman which he was first elected to at the 3rd Quarter 2008 SCC Meeting in Bunkie upon the resignation of then chair, Adrien Monteleone and shortly after his (Horne's) run for governor. Mr. Horne gained statewide recognition from Libertarians after his three year campaign for governor which greatly helped him in his bid for chairman. He was re-elected unanimously at the 2009 Convention in Baton Rouge. During his term as chairman, the state party has continued to grow and a law that would have caused Libertarian candidates to be relegated to a "minor" party and disallowed a party primary for Federal office, was voted down in the Louisiana Legislature. (party primaries have since been abolished entirely as of 2011)
2007 bid for Governor
Not long after the Libertarian Party became a recognized political party in the State of Louisiana, Mr. Horne announced his bid for Governor of Louisiana. He spent three years traveling the state in his RV and spreading the Libertarian message. The campaign was well funded compared to many other Libertarian campaigns and Mr. Horne was the first gubernatorial candidate to appear on the ballot as a Libertarian. During the campaign, several TV commercials were aired and paid for by the T. Lee Horne for Governor Campaign. In addition, the campaign ran a very well organized online effort that utilized social media.
