The Synergy Opportunity Liberty Organization, officially known as 'SOLO USA' and informally as 'SOLO,' is a defunct Nevada non-profit organization that promoted libertarian ideas to Hispanics. [1] [2] SOLO was co-founded around the summer of 2013 by a group of Hispanic libertarian activists in Las Vegas, Nevada, who mostly met during Ron Paul's 2012 presidential campaign. Many of them also volunteered for Juan A Martinez's North Las Vegas City Council campaign earlier that year. [2]
SOLO initially operated as an unincorporated, loosely-organized group before incorporating on April 21, 2014 and later obtaining 501(c)(3) status. [1] [2] Martinez, Doug Pestana, and Edgar Licea served as the organization's officers, with Martinez taking the role of President. [1] Nick Gausling served as an unofficial early advisor to the organization. [2]
SOLO's activity dramatically declined after July 2014 as Martinez became Nevada State Director for The LIBRE Initiative and Pestana moved out of state. [3] [4] [5] [6] [2] Licea nominally maintained the organization until it was officially dissolved sometime around 2018-2019 after years of operational inactivity. [1] [2]
