BetteRose Smith was Chair of the Libertarian Party of Colorado from 1999 to 2001. She joined the Libertarian Party in 1979. During her college days, she worked to get the Libertarian option on the state voter registration.

BetteRose volunteered at the Libertarian Party of Colorado in 1992 and became a board member in 1994 (Fundraising director).

BetteRose married Tony Ryan in 2001 and is now known as BetteRose Ryan.
