Bill Hall (William W. Hall) is a Libertarian Party activist, having joined the national Libertarian Party in 1977, after having heard LP presidential candidate Roger MacBride speak at Wabash College, in Crawfordsville, Indiana, in the Spring of 1976. From 1977 to 1979 he was active in the Libertarian Party of Indiana, serving as Anderson area coordinator on the state committee, and attended the 1979 Libertarian Party National Convention as an Indiana delegate.

From 1979-1981 he was active in the Libertarian Party of Illinois, where he ran for State Representative in 1980 and attended the 1981 Libertarian Party National Convention as an Illinois delegate.

In 1982 Bill became active in the Libertarian Party of Michigan, joining its state central committee and revitalizing the moribund Kent County Libertarian Party as its Chair. Beginning with the 1983 Libertarian Party National Convention, and for every national convention since, with the exception of 1983, he has served as a delegate from Michigan.

Bill was elected to the Libertarian National Committee to represent Michigan and Wisconsin at the 1987 Libertarian Party National Convention. He was appointed by LNC Chair Jim Turney to chair the LNC's legal action committee and served as legal counsel to the LNC during his 2-year term. The 1989 Libertarian Party National Convention was the first national convention for which he drafted the convention contract. He refused to ally himself with any of the three then-factions on the LNC, centered around Jim Turney, Ron Paul and David Bergland, considering himself an independent.

Bill was elected to the Libertarian National Committee to represent Region 3 (Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia) at the 1991 Libertarian Party National Convention. He was appointed by LNC Chair Mary Gingell to serve as General Counsel to the LNC. He continued in that role until 2008, having been appointed by Chairs Steve Dasbach, David Bergland, Jim Lark, Geoff Neale, Mike Dixon and Bill Redpath. From time to time since he has served as special counsel to the LNC on legal matters, having represented the LNC pro bono in its purchase and financing of its national headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, in 2014.

Bill was elected to the Libertarian National Committee as an at-large representative in 1996 and 1998. He was elected by the LNC to serve on the LNC Executive Committee for 1993 and 1996-98. He was elected to the National Judicial Committee three times, serving from 2010-2012, 2012-14 and 2016-18. He served as Chair of the National Judicial Committee from 2010-14, presiding over the appeal of the contentious effort to disaffiliate the Libertarian Party of Oregon.

In 1996, 1998 and 2002, Bill ran for the University of Michigan Board of Regents. In 2000 he ran for Kent County Commissioner, earning 5% of the vote in a 3-way race. In 2004 Bill ran for Michigan State University Trustee. In 2006 he ran for Michigan Attorney General. In 2008, 2010, 2016 and 2020 Bill ran for Michigan State Board of Education.

Bill was elected Chair of the Libertarian Party of Michigan three times, serving from 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2017-19. He served as Vice Chair of the Libertarian Party of Michigan from 1987-88. He served as LPM Political Director 2009-11 and has served as Assistant Treasurer since 2012. Bill served as a member from 1981-88 on the LPM's Libertarian Executive Committee and on the LPM Judicial Committee from 1991-92,1995-2007 and 2009-17.

Bill has also served in a variety of roles at the local level. These include serving as the Chair of the Kent County Libertarian Party from 1982-88 and as Treasurer from 1988-90. He also served as Treasurer of the Libertarian Party of West Michigan from 2005-06 and has served as Secretary from 2016 to date. He has served as campaign manager and campaign treasurer on several campaigns.

At the 2008 Libertarian Party National Convention Bill was honored with the Samuel Adams Activism Award.
