State Legislature
The Tennessee Legislature is a bicameral legislature that consist of a House of Representatives with 99 members elected every two years and Senate that consists of 33 members elected for a four-year term. The odd-numbered Senate Districts are elected in the Presidential election year. The even numbered senate districts are elected in the mid-term election. The Senate chooses a speaker, who serves as Lt. Governor. The Tennessee Legislature is allotted 180 days to conduct is business every legislative session (2 years).
