W. Scott Howard entered the political scene in 2018 when he ran to the United States House of Representatives for Idaho, District 1. During that same year he was elected as the Vice-Chair of the Libertarian Party of Idaho.

He did not run again for office in 2020 as he was focusing on his family. W. Scott Howard moved to Texas in May of 2021, and into bastrop county in the end of September 2021.

He was appointed temporary chair of the Bastrop County Libertarian party on 11/24/2021.
