When Lee lived in North Carolina, he served as the Vice-Chair of the North Carolina LP for seven years and he also served as the ballot access expert for two years. Wrights served as the Chairman and the Secretary of the Forsyth County LP.
In [[Mary Ruwart]]'s 2008 Presidential Campaign, Lee Wrights served as campaign manager. The campaign came to an end when Ruwart lost to [[Bob Barr]] on the sixth round of balloting. In 2010, Lee Wrights also managed Ruwart's campaign for Texas State Comptroller in which she received 10% of the vote against a Republican and Democrat.
