Mary J Ruwart, PhD, is a highly respected Libertarian writer and activist. She holds a doctorate in biophysics.

She was the Libertarian Party of Texas nominee for US Senate in 2000.

There has been more than one push to make Mary Ruwart the nominee for US President, from 1983 to the six-ballot 2008 nomination barely won by Bob Barr.

She has served multiple terms on the Libertarian National Committee and has served on the boards of the International Society for Individual Liberty and the Fully Informed Jury Association. She has been a part of the Michigan chapter of the Heartland Institute.

She was the author of the Ask Dr Ruwart column in Liberator Online, the online publication of The Advocates for Self-Government.
